Queen Kong

A journey to Honk Kong fashion week revealed a city full with surprising experiences, vivacious urban character and a sense of style that is really hard to beat

Hectic nightlife meets the scents of Asia, urbanism and human warmth which almost contradicts the mountains and the river. Hong Kong perpetuates an intoxicating – almost impossible – mixture of east and west. And therein lays its charm; that is why Honk Kong is so fierce and exciting.

I arrived to the city because of the local fashion week, which is a meeting point for designers, brands and global manufactures. It was also an opportunity to experience Hong Kong for the first time. It turned out to be a location that welcomes and soaks you in with endless energies.

We stayed at the Mira Hotel, whose motto is to design the guests experience whilst maintaining clean lines and simplicity. Whether it’s the minimalist front of the building, referencing waves, color and items coordination in the rooms, great food, devoted service and incredible location – no doubt the Mira is a wonderful option for accommodation while in the city.

When fashion week was over, I had one more day before taking off to China. I wanted to go out, to see Hong Kong from above and discover Hong Kong's attractive and inspiring
locations. A few minutes after I returned to the hotel for some rest, a friend staying in the city text me for dinner at the Aqua restaurant – in the city highest location.

The restaurant's space oversees the entire city; the architecture, colors, the river and the beautiful mountains. After an enjoyable evening, I asked one of the dozen hostesses for a recommendation for somewhere to dance. I didn't even have any time to finish the question before Ritchie and Susan turned their heads. "You want to dance?", they asked, and I could only say yes.

He's half British and she's half Australian and half local. Ritchie owns the Republik – a local popular lounge bar. It was Ritchie's last day in the city. They knew exactly where to go and also knew so many people. So, I found myself talking in the middle of the night with Topshop's designer, while also conversing with artists, musicians and partygoers.

I saw some similarities between Hong Kong and Tel Aviv; especially when it has to do with the gushing stream of energies in the streets. Much like my home port, you only know where the night starts in Hong Kong. You can
never know how it will turn out and who will you meet along the way.

The next day, I was on my way to China – on route toward inherently different approaches and attitudes. Hong Kong, for its part, proved itself to be an inexhaustible source of exciting possibilities to find inspiration, charming people, unique style and moments which are hard to beat.
